ISME Communications focuses on host-microbe interactions with particular emphasis on host-associated microbiome studies (from environmental to clinical), when viewed from an ecological perspective. The scope includes interactions and effects of the host on the microbe and the microbe on the host.
All hosts – encompassing animals (including humans), plants, and other microbes such as amoebae – are within scope. All microbes, from parasites to viruses, are within scope.
