Leslie Daille

Leslie Daille is a postdoctoral researcher at the Genomics, Ecology and Environment Center of Universidad Mayor in Santiago, Chile, where she explores how microorganisms and their interactions shape ecological processes in different environments. She holds an Engineering and a Master’s in Biotechnology from Andrés Bello University, as well as a PhD in Biological Sciences–Molecular Genetics and Microbiology from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

Participating in the International GeoBiology Course and the International Course in ECODIM fueled her enthusiasm for microbial ecology and collaborative science. Currently, Dr. Daille continues collaborative research on diverse microbial models of surface association and their ecological interactions—crucial in clinical, industrial, and environmental contexts—while investigating the molecular mechanisms driving microbial symbiosis in Antarctic sponges.

Beyond the lab, she enjoys fieldwork, connecting with fellow scientists, bird watching and nature’s exploration.
